Complete ATSC Packages
VTI provides complete, redundant ATSC systems for multi-channel HD & SD transmissions.
These systems typically include encoders, multiplexers, switching, monitoring, EAS, patching and even UPS's.
We also build very cost effective single channel systems.
We configure and commission what we sell. This is a great cost savings as you will not have to bring technicians from several companies to commission their part of the package. Compliance is verified with our Triveni StreamScope.
Large or small, we will make sure that your system is expandable, cost effective and FCC compliant.
Call VTI for a free consultation to configure a system that fits your needs and your budget.

ATSC Encoders & Multiplexers
Systems can be as simple as a single SD or HD encoder or as complex and multi-channel with stat-muxing and auto-failover redundancy.
If your needs require multiple program streams, we have very cost effective systems that allow for constant bit rate multiplexing. For the best results, we can provide a solution with variable bit rate encoding, maximizing the data-rate of every program stream.
VTI offers encoders with built in 708 caption conversion and logo insertion.
VTI sells encoders and multiplexers from Tandberg Television, Harmonic, Harris & Logic Innovations. We can provide very inexpensive solutions that will exceed your expectations.

Dynamic PSIP
We have extensive experience deploying systems on all common encoder platforms including Tandberg, Haromnic, Harris, AgileVision and General Instruments. Your stations program information can be automatically downloaded to the GuideBuilder PSIP generator. We can also connect to your traffic system or manually enter the information. We also can connect to your automation system for automatic updates up to the second changes.
There are several ways to deploy your PSIP data:
In its simplest form, you have the PSIP generator output an ASI stream and combine with the local ATSC encoder. If you are Centralcasting, you can have several ASI outputs, one for each stations transport stream. There also is the ability to output the PSIP via IP. This can be done locally, but it also opens up an opportunity to centralize your PSIP generator and feed several locations via a network connection from the one system.
One station group contracted with VTI to develop and deploy a system to generate PSIP for 21 stations from their corporate office using their corporate WAN. Another group generates PSIP for seven station and delivers the data using standard phone lines.
VTI is a authorized distributor for Triveni Digital. NEW LOWER PRICES STARTING AT $10,500 FOR GUIDEBUILDER PRO. Triveni is by far the leading manufacturer of PSIP generators. With dozens of systems installed, VTI is your source for all your PSIP needs. Call VTI for a free consultation.

Digital PRO Channel Receivers
Many television stations currently send IFB to talent in the field during ENG situations via the PRO audio channel in their NTSC TV signal. Some stations have switched to wireless/cell phones or 2-way radio but those operations that rely on the use of the PRO channel for cueing will face a problem after the analog cut-off because there will be no more NTSC and hence no more PRO channel. Modulation Sciences, Inc. has developed technology that allows stations to send IFB via the ATSC Transport Stream (TS) in their DTV signal.
This technology places MPEG-1 encoded audio into the TS which must be assigned its own PID. The number of IFB channels available is limited only by the bandwidth the station is able to allocate for this purpose. Each MPEG-1, layer 2 data stream requires 96 kbps. Each audio channel takes 48 kbps but they must be assigned in pairs.
Once the IFB audio is in the station's TS, a receiver located in the ENG vehicle is tuned to the DTV channel, the MPEG-1 data stream is extracted and IFB or cue audio is output to the talent. This operates much like a digital version of analog PRO receivers in use today. The receiver includes LG Electronics' 6th generation DTV receiver chip set which provides significantly improved ATSC over-the-air reception.
Encoders for Digital PROceiver's
VTI can pre-configure encoders to add as many PROceiver audio channels as needed. The audio encoding will work with your existing ATSC transport stream. Minimal audio delay's of between 150-350ms have been measured in actual deployments of the encoders & Digital PROceivers.

EIA/CEA 708 Closed Captioning
In order for a program to count toward the quarterly captioning quota, a broadcaster must send out both CEA-708 and encapsulated CEA-608 captions.
Based on the model and age of a stations encoding equipment, VTI can recommend the correct caption solution. One of the harder situations is a HD encoder that requires captions via a RS-232 interface and mixing locally up-converted material with network material. We have the answers to this and all caption challenges.
Want to create captions with different colors, font styles and different size text? VTI can provide a solution to publish in native 708 format. The system will even output 608 formatted captions from the same information.
VTI sells caption solutions from several manufacturers, including Evertz, EEG and Norpak. Call VTI for a free evaluation of your caption needs.

EAS
Easily generate EAS alerts for all your sub-channels and automate compliance logging. The FCC now requires that all DTV broadcasters transmit National EAS messages by December 31, 2006. This includes all channels of a multicast. VTI has the products and knowledge to put the right package together for you.
We work with Sage, TFT and Triilithic, so we can add to your existing system or provide new next-generation CAP ready equipment. We have the graphic display system for both SD and HD as well as any digital conversion or audio deembedders/embedders required to complete the job.
Let us work with you to configure the components required to make sure your EAS system is in compliance with FCC regulations. Call VTI for a free consultation.

Stream Analyzers
The leader in PSIP generators, Triveni Digital, is also the leader in stream analyzers with the StreamScope. Because Triveni Digital has its roots in ATSC, they have the best solution for analyzing an ATSC signal. At VTI we use the StreamScope when ever we do any ATSC work. We have seen other systems that indicated no problems, yet StreamScope was able to display cross-table issues.
Realizing that the only way to make sure that you are meeting all FCC requirements and provide the best "consumer experience" is to have a properly configured system. Sometimes that means having the same value in two or three different pieces of equipment.
A
stream analyzer is required to show you what is going on with your system. StreamScope can monitor several local or remote signals at the same time allowing you to tap your signal at many different points. The best system with the best graphical interface is the Triveni StreamScope.
You would never think about having a video system without a waveform monitor and patch points. Monitoring your compressed program stream is no different. It just requires different tools.
ASI monitoring is now being built-in to many other monitoring products, such as scopes from Videotek and 8VSB monitors from Modulation Sciences and Z Technology.
Call VTI for a demonstration or for a free analysis of your monitoring needs.
